Laminate flooring
Sharp wood visuals with a tough surface.
Modern laminate can handle busy rooms well. The subfloor, perimeter clearance, and moisture plan still decide how it performs.
Where it fits
Choose for the job, not the sample board.
- Living rooms and bedrooms
- Homeowners prioritizing scratch resistance
- Projects where realistic wood texture matters
The installation plan
- 01
Compare the surface
Look at wear rating, edge treatment, texture, water claims, and warranty limits.
- 02
Inspect the base
We check flatness, firmness, transitions, and the right underlayment.
- 03
Plan expansion
Room size, fixed objects, doorways, and perimeter gaps are built into the layout.
- 04
Install cleanly
The crew follows the locking and expansion requirements, then finishes transitions and trim.
Compare before choosing
The category gets you close. The exact product decides the fit.
- Specification
- Compare the product's abrasion class, core, total thickness, underlayment, edge treatment, and water-resistance limits.
- Installation
- Methods in this category include click-lock. The selected product instructions and conditions in the home determine the method.
- Tradeoff
- Water claims differ by product and do not make every laminate suitable for every wet or below-grade condition.
- Price planning
- This category can appear across value, mid planning tiers. Pro Build prices the selected product and measured scope instead of publishing an unsupported per-square-foot teaser.
After the crew leaves
Use the floor with a clear handoff.
- Most floating laminate can be walked on right after installation.
- Standing water should be cleaned promptly even on water-resistant products.
- Felt pads and entry mats reduce grit and furniture scratches.
Straight answers
Laminate questions, answered.
How is laminate different from LVP?
Laminate usually has a wood-fiber core and a hard photographic wear surface. LVP uses a vinyl-based construction. Feel, sound, scratch behavior, and moisture limits differ.
Can laminate go in a basement?
Only when the product allows it and moisture conditions are acceptable. Basement slabs should be evaluated before material is chosen.
How long does installation take?
Most single-room jobs are completed in a day. Larger or more complicated work may take several days. Your written estimate will spell out the expected schedule before you approve the job.
Is laminate noisy?
The product, underlayment, subfloor, room furnishings, and installation all affect sound. We can compare options during the estimate.
Can damaged planks be repaired?
Individual planks may be replaceable, but access and product availability matter. Keeping a small amount of attic stock is sensible.
Will doors need trimming?
Sometimes. Added floor and underlayment height can affect doors, appliances, and transitions. We check these points during measuring.
